Race 3: Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Miller Park

Miller Park packs a punch in a narrow space. This sliver of park by the marina offers up a blank canvas of grass for the course designer to challenge you in many different ways. There's enough hillside to keep your legs burning and the change of the tides in the river will keep things exciting.

Directions to the Race

  • Miller Park, Sacramento

Getting There
Miller Park is located just southwest of downtown Sacramento.Enter the park from Broadway.
Address to use for directions: Marina View Dr, Sacramento, CA 95818

Parking
Parking is $5 (CASH ONLY). The City of Sacramento now charges for parking at Miller Park. An attendant will be present at the park entrance to collect $5 (CASH ONLY) from each car. This lot will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.

If this lot fills up, racers will be directed to park in the Miller Park Circle lot off of Front Street, subject to regular city parking fees (follow instructions at park entrance). DO NOT park in the Sacramento Marina parking lot at the end of Ramp Drive as this will violate the terms of our permit.

What can families do?
Other than admiring the gorgeous view of the river from almost any point of the race course, there is not a lot for families to do at the race venue. However, downtown Sacramento with all its museums, parks and restaurants is just a couple miles away from the venue.

What is there to eat?
El Fira will have their wood-fired oven out at this race!

Will there be beer?
Unfortunately, the City of Sacramento required almost $800 worth of security to have a beer garden, so no. BUT our friends at Bike Dog have your back! Pedal on over to their Broadway Taproom (just over 1 mile away at 915 Broadway) and mention SacCX for $1 off your beer.

Course length: 1.5 miles

Elevation gain per lap: 171 feet/lap

Course direction: Clockwise

Bibs: On the left

Chip Placement: Please wear your RFID chip on the OUTSIDE of your sock! If your sock gets too mud-soaked it won't read.

Pre-Riding: If you would like to pre-ride the course, you may do so from 8:00 am to 9:25 am on race morning. If you arrive after that time, please queue just past the finish line as a race is finishing up. The race announcer will let you know when you may get on the course to pre-ride. Please do not ever pass someone who is currently racing! If you have any questions, we are happy to answer them at the registration tent.

Course description:
Miller Park's riverfront venue produces a nearly all grass course with the exception of the paved start/finish. If the river level is low enough, we'll dive down to the beach for a little sand and a run-up as well. There's some punchy elevation change on this shorter course which will provide for some close and exciting racing.

Prices and Series Information

The series championship will use your six best races out of the eight race series.

You will be issued a reusable RFID chip for the entire season. A $20 deposit will be added to your first race, and is fully refundable when you return the chip at the end of the season.

If you pre-register online before Thursday, October 24 at 11:59 pm you will register for a "Race Credit" that is good at any race of the season - no transfer fees. The more credits you buy at one time, the more you save. When you buy "Race Credits" you do not need to tell us in advance which race(s) you will come to; just go to registration on race day and we'll use a credit when you get your race packet.

If you wait until Friday or Saturday, it increases to the late registration price, and your registration is only good for that specific race. Please note that you MUST register online before your first race of the season (even if you want to pay by cash or check). We will have computers available on-site, but we highly recommend you fill out your information online in advance and save yourself the hassle of squinting at a little computer screen in the bright sunlight!

If you lose your bib number and/or RFID chip, it is a $5 replacement fee (plus an additional $20 chip deposit). Race credits expire at the end of the season, and are not transferable to another racer. No refunds.

Adult Prices

Late registration is $40*.
