Race 1: Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Lakeside Church

Located on E. Bidwell and Oak Avenue Pkwy, Lakeside Church's 27 acre property puts cyclocross racing front and center in Folsom for all to see. Racers will see plenty of typical Sacramento Cyclocross features with wide open fields, off camber grassy hillsides and a big paved start. Plus, Lakeside's terraced steps will be one of the biggest run-ups we have all season.

Getting There
Lakeside Church is located next door to Folsom Lake College, at the corner of E Bidwell St, and Oak Avenue Pkwy. Click on the map to the left to get directions.

Parking
Parking is free. Note: Due to the course layout, no access will be allowed from the Oak Avenue Pkwy entrance! Please use the entrance on South Lexington Dr.

What can families do?
The church itself has a small play structure that is located in the middle of the race course, so kids can play and spouses can cheer! Within walking distance, there is also a skate park, a dog park, and the Humbug Willow Creek Trail which winds through Folsom's greenbelt. Less than a mile down E Bidwell Rd is the Palladio at Broadstone shopping area, and numerous restaurants and bars.

What is there to eat?
You've got options! El Fira will have their wood-fired oven out at this race, and Authentic Street Taco is bringing out their food truck!

Here's your pizza menu from Chef Jeff:
Late Summer Garden Basil and Tomatoes top the Margee along with Fresh Mozzarella and Extra Virgin Olive Oil for a Taste of Tradition.
Pesto, Potatoes, and Peas aka "P.P.P. Yeah You Know Me" gets a Tasty Topping of Cheesy Goodness and a Kiss of the Flames for an App Vegetarian Option!

What if I don't have a CX bike?
Amaincycling.com has you covered! They are bringing a demo fleet of Specialized Crux Expert (carbon!) cyclocross bikes out to the races this year. It's $40 for a single race, or $75 for the whole day to borrow this $4,700 bike... and you won't even have to clean it when you're done! They have sizes 52, 54, 56, & 58. Call Evan at (530) 815-4311 to reserve your bike in advance.

Course length: 1.75 miles

Elevation gain per lap: 170 feet/lap

Course direction: Counter clockwise

Bibs: On the left

Chip Placement: Please wear your RFID chip on the OUTSIDE of your sock! If your sock gets too mud-soaked it won't read.

Pre-Riding: If you would like to pre-ride the course, you may do so from 8:00 am to 9:25 am on race morning. If you arrive after that time, please queue just past the finish line as a race is finishing up. The race announcer will let you know when you may get on the course to pre-ride. Please do not ever pass someone who is currently racing! If you have any questions, we are happy to answer them at the registration tent.

Course description: This 28 acre property has everything needed for a classic cyclocross course. Each lap starts on an asphault descent to an open gravel lot, letting you keep the speed high before weaving through loose gravel and trimmed native vegetation. After climbing back up to the top of the hill on pavement, you're greeted with grassy off-camber turns before the terraced run-up. Recover on the asphalt descent before powering through the lower grass field and back to the finish.

Prices and Series Information

The series championship will use your six best races out of the eight race series.

You will be issued a reusable RFID chip for the entire season. A $20 deposit will be added to your first race, and is fully refundable when you return the chip at the end of the season.

If you pre-register online before Thursday, October 3 at 11:59 pm you will register for a "Race Credit" that is good at any race of the season - no transfer fees. The more credits you buy at one time, the more you save. When you buy "Race Credits" you do not need to tell us in advance which race(s) you will come to; just go to registration on race day and we'll use a credit when you get your race packet.

If you wait until Friday or Saturday, it increases to the late registration price, and your registration is only good for that specific race. Please note that you MUST register online before your first race of the season (even if you want to pay by cash or check). We will have computers available on-site, but we highly recommend you fill out your information online in advance and save yourself the hassle of squinting at a little computer screen in the bright sunlight!

If you lose your bib number and/or RFID chip, it is a $5 replacement fee (plus an additional $20 chip deposit). Race credits expire at the end of the season, and are not transferable to another racer. No refunds.

Adult Prices

Late registration is $40*.
Race another class on the same day for $10.

Save over 20% by registering online! Decide how many races you can come to, then register for that number of race credits. You do not need to tell us in advance which race(s) you plan on coming to.
